Google Sites workflow

Publish your first Google Site without getting lost in the editor.

A small site does not need a hundred decisions. Work through these six steps and you will have a clearer starting point, a better first version and a link you can confidently share.

01

Decide what the site needs to do

Write one sentence before you touch a template: “This site helps visitors book a DJ,” “This site shows my teaching work,” or “This site explains our event.” That sentence decides what belongs on the home page.

02

Choose a template with the right structure

Look for page sections that already match your goal. A strong starting template gives you a hero area, a way to show proof or work, and a clear next step for the visitor.

03

Replace the important content first

Start with your name, what you offer, one strong image, the most useful details and one contact route. Do not spend an hour polishing colours before the page says what it is for.

04

Build a short navigation

Home, About, Services or Work, and Contact are enough for many first sites. Create additional pages only when they answer a real question that does not fit comfortably on the home page.

05

Review the mobile version and every link

Check that headings are readable, images still make sense, buttons lead somewhere useful and the contact route works. Most visitors will judge the site in a few seconds on a small screen.

06

Publish, then make the link findable

Choose the audience for the published site, share the URL where people already know you, and add the site to Google Search Console if it is meant to appear in search. Improve the page after real people start using it.

The first version is the beginning.

Once the site is live, the useful work is clearer: improve the message, add evidence, answer questions and make every page lead naturally to the next step.
